While the Chinese/Japanese numbering systems are interesting, learning them today is somewhat akin to westerners learning the Roman numeral system. All modern usage of numbers in Asia use Hindu-Arabic numerals just the same as in Western languages. You will very rarely encounter old numerals unless within the context of writings of older text and even then, you'd be fluent in reading the other kanji in order to read the numbers. In grocery stores, stock markets, newspaper articles, taxis, etc. everywhere, everyone uses the same numbering system as the west.
